Occupy Movement in Canada?

Posted by MonkeyMan on November 15, 2011 in Blog Post
I know people might not like this, but I’m getting a little tired of it. CTV Headline today reads:

Occupy T.O. considers options while facing eviction.

Well you know what. Here are some options to pick from:
Option 1: Go home.
Option 2: Get a job.
Option 3: Volunteer.
Option 4: Appreciate what we have.
Option 5: Stop comparing Libya, Egypt and the U.S. to Canada.
Option 6: If you don’t like the banks or profits – stop using credit cards and spending money you don’t have.
Option 7: If you don’t like the way our Country is run, vote, run for office, leave, or shut up.
Freedom of speech and assembly does not mean setting up a disgusting squatter camp in OUR parks. Are you too lazy to get up every morning to go to the park and say what you feel, then go home?

RIP Steve Jobs

Posted by MonkeyMan on October 6, 2011 in Blog Post

I gotta say it has been a blast growing up as a contemporary of Steve Jobs. I mean we saw the beginning of the Internet, Cell Phones, Google and more.

Steve Jobs introduced the Macintosh in 1984 – the year I got married. I still have a Macintosh and they are still cool. Typing this on my iMac.

Thanks Steve.

Election prediction

Posted by MonkeyMan on April 27, 2011 in Blog Post

The Canadian Federal Election is this Monday. Polls indicate Layton surging and Ignatieff crashing. Not a big surprise but how will it play out on Monday?

My thoughts – while Jack Layton is well liked as a person and perhaps a leader, the poll numbers won’t translate into seats. Remember – when people hit the polls, they don’t vote for Layton (except those in his riding). While there will be increased support and votes for the NDP (and likely more seats for them), it will be at the expense of the Bloc and Liberals for the most part, so will in many ridings mean the Conservatives will win the seat, especially in ridings that were a Conservative/Liberal race.

My prediction – the Conservatives may just get a majority.

Either way, Iggy has crashed and burned, and the Liberals need a strong, younger and dynamic leader.

Look for some changes in leadership after this election, or we may end up doing the same thing over and over.

Nick the Greek

Wonders why CTV makes pollster Nik Nanos seem like an expert on politics and gives him so much airtime. Seems like a conflict of interest to me.

Wonders how the U.S. military would treat citizens who rose up against their government en masse?
